Welcome to Outdoors OZ, where I share the fun and follies of getting out and about. Expect gear rants about equipment that fails to live up to what's on the box and fulsome praise showered upon stuff that actually works properly. Tips and tricks, safety advice, camp cooking ideas,  philosophical meandering, really bad puns, funny (hopefully) anecdotes, all with lots of pictures. Also, since I am a fan, Sci-Fi and Fantasy short stories and maybe a novel or two. Written by a recently retired scientist/engineer with a long history of enjoying the Australian outdoors who now has time on his hands and an inclination to perpetrate a blog about it all.
