Often, when trying to get some piece of hardware or software to work, I have to try, retry, then go and read the instructions (if I can find them). Then try again, re-read, realize that the button I was pressing wasn't the button that the instructions were talking about. Sigh, try with the right button, realize that the function I finally got it to perform wasn't the function that I really wanted and so-on. You get the picture. You've been there.

So, any wonder that we have so many problems interacting with people (including ourselves!), who don't even come with instructions? (Or rather, the instructions have to be acquired by many years of mostly unsupervised hit-and-miss training with very poor (or none) feedback?)
